Coach

COACH is an AI-powered digital navigator designed to support people using digital mental health treatments (DMHTs). Research has shown that people better adhere to their DMHTs if they receive support from a mobile health support specialist to help them overcome common barriers to use. Our research team is working to shift that role to be accessible digitally to make DMHT support more widely available and accessible to users. We have identified three common barriers to DMHT use that COACH is designed to help users overcome: 1) technology troubleshooting, 2) maintaining motivation and encouragement, and 3) personalizing app content. The app provides support via an AI-powered chatbot.

Application Overview

COACH is a mobile application designed to be an AI-powered digital navigator to support people using digital mental health treatments (DMHTS). The app provides real-time support for three main domains that prove to be adherence barriers for DMHT users: 1) technology troubleshooting, 2) maintaining motivation and encouragement, and 3) personalizing app content. The app provides support via an AI-powered chatbot.

Types of Data Collected

The app only collects usage data and timestamps of app interactions. All user input will be stored on-device and will not be visible to anyone on the research team. All data collected are de-identified and stored in the US.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Your information may be used to:

  • Assist in quality control (i.e. monitor app function and make improvements).

  • Support aggregated analysis of app usage, such as which features or content are most used.

  • Reported data will be aggregated sot that individual users cannot be identified.

    • Data are encrypted in transit and at rest.

    • Accounts are restricted to authorized staff.

  • Administrative Protections:

    • Data handling follows standard security practices.

    • App and backend systems are regularly updated to maintain security.

      • Data backups are performed according to standard protocols.
